Jude Bellingham rises to the top of the Golden Boy Index, the ranking of the top 100 Under-21 players from European clubs. Thanks to an excellent start to the season, the new Real Madrid acquisition has overtaken Musiala, who was previously ranked number one. This is the first standout detail in the latest update, with matches played until August 21 and transfers closed by August 27.

There are 13 new players on the list, and among them, Romeo Lavia from Chelsea holds the highest position at 55th place. Meanwhile, Lamine Yamal, the new talent at Barcelona, is the youngest in the top 100 at 16 years, 1 month, and 20 days old. Sepe Elye Wahi, who moved from Montpellier to Lens in August, is the player who has climbed the most positions, going from 71st to 40th.

The Premier League is the most active in the youth market, adding 3 players compared to a month ago (13 in total). It is followed by Ligue 1 (12) and the Bundesliga (11), which maintains its status as the league with the most players in the top 10 (4). Despite a slight decrease (from 438 to 431.3 million euros), it still represents just under 25% of the total market value of players on the list (1.8 billion euros). France remains the most represented nation (14 players), followed by Denmark (8) and England (7).

Salzburg continues to be the club with the most representation (4 players), followed by Brighton, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus, Leipzig, and Strasbourg (3 players each). Seven new clubs have entered the list (Gent, Rapid Vienna, Pardubice, Sint-Truidense, Elfsborg, Newcastle, and Bournemouth).

The next update is scheduled for the end of September, marking the final step leading up to the shortlist that will be presented to the international jury.

Today, the third phase of the “Golden Boy Web” begins, a prize awarded by fans through an active voting process on the website tuttosport.com. In the first two months, it has received over one million votes. After each Index update, the voting restarts from scratch, and the final outcome will be the sum of all monthly votes. In August, the Absolute Best 2022 Gavi took the lead (with 38% of the votes), followed by Musiala (36.9%) and Balde (6.3%).
