The European Championship and the Copa America are in full swing, and the new season has officially started just a few days ago: factors that impact the fourth update of the Golden Boy Football Benchmark Index, a new stage in the journey towards the election of the European Golden Boy 2024, the best Under-21 player in a European club.

Thanks to the collaboration between Tuttosport and Football Benchmark – data & analytics partner of the award – the GBFB Index allows constant monitoring of players’ performances considering objective data including playing time, transfers, performances in the national team and their respective clubs.

At the top of the ranking, from the very first day, is Lamine Yamal, Barcelona forward who will turn 17 in eight days and is one of Spain’s protagonists at Euro 2024: behind him is the confirmed podium completed by Joao Neves of Benfica and Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United. Arda Güler (Real Madrid) continues his climb, gaining five positions and placing just outside the top ten (14th), while the only new name compared to a month ago is Julio Enciso of Brighton (89th). The English club, also thanks to the first official market movements, extends its lead at the top of the most represented clubs with 7 players, followed by Barcelona with 4 and Chelsea, Brugge, Genk, and Ajax (3). Double overtaking by the Premier League over the Belgian Pro League and Ligue 1: the English league is the most represented, with 19 players (+8 compared to a month ago) against 14 of the French league (-2) and 12 of the Belgian Pro League.
While waiting for the market to heat up, the total value of the 100 players on the list rises to 1.77 billion euros. With each GBFB Index update, the survey will be reset and will start again with the 100 names of the new update: the final winner will be determined by the sum of all votes collected in each of the planned rounds.
